On Twitter, Aster Glenn Gray shared some chalk art from her neighborhood, and chalk art is something I love and something I think is really restorative and heartening, so when I had to give up watching Self-Made (with the aforementioned Aster Glenn Gray--though remotely of course) due to Wakanomori's need to use the bandwidth for teaching, I went outside and drew a phoenix:

Here's a detail

We'll rise from this.

I've been heartened by a number of encouraging posts from people on my friends list, but yesterday it was especially this one from [personal profile] gaudior on how to handle a plague.

Love your phoenix! Very good to think of now.

But I did look up the amabie — ‘ legendary Japanese mermaid or merman with 3 legs, who allegedly emerges from the sea and prophesies either an abundant harvest or an epidemic.’ (Wikipedia) Mermaids or -men could have legs? "The Little Mermaid," at least in the one written by Hans Christian Andersen and Disney-fied later, could have had legs all along! :-D Very cool, so thanks for mentioning this, so we could go learn things!

I love your phoenix. :)

I think I may propose to Chun Woo that we go out and chalk pheonices on or by a running trail.

Sadly, it didn't charm Chun Woo into being interested in drawing one. If it's dry tomorrow I reckon I'll go do one, though.

From the ages of three to five he produced astonishing artwork. Then his interests went elsewhere, though in the School Ages of Display Homework his visual display of quantitative and historical information has been elite.

I guess I keep sighing for the promise of that early artwork. :D

Oh, any talent is a source of power. And I don't discount visual display of quantitative and historical information, at all!
