I know you're not big on grim stories, but although this one has grim elements, the emotional arc is upward: Wasp has been alone, and with the coming of the ghost, she's not anymore. And the ghost's relationship with Foster, the friend he's trying to find, is a model of what friendship can mean. And I loved Wasp--she's snarly and mistrustful and at the same time naturally empathetic, even if she can't always express it. This review in School Library Journal (http://blogs.slj.com/printzblog/2015/10/12/the-archivist-wasp-leaves-a-bittersweet-sting/) does a better job than I have.
